Benjamin "Ben" Lammers, 76
Benjamin Henry Lammers, 76, of Fairfax, MN passed away Saturday, February 10th at the Woodbury Health Care Center in Woodbury, MN.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marjorie "Marney" (Nelson); his children, Sarah McNulty of Bloomington, John & Debbie Lammers of Lake Elmo, and Susan Somers of Woodbury; 8 grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Taylor & Cameron, Andrew, Alyssa, & Nicole, and Tyson, Nathan, & Justin; brothers Wesley (Anna) of Moline, IL and Randy (Sue) of Cannon Falls, MN; sister-in-law Lisa Nelson of Willmar; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Ben was born on February 17th, 1941 in Hinckley, MN to Charles & Marian (Lindquist) Lammers. He was raised in Fairfax, MN where he met his best friend and love of his life, Marjorie "Marney" Nelson. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1959 and immediately joined the US Navy. Ben was a proud Navy veteran. He and Marney were married in Fairfax on September 7th, 1963 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Ben's careers in the Boy Scouts of America and Real Estate took the family to Sioux Falls, SD, Irvine, CA, Highlands Ranch, CO, and eventually back to Minnesota in 1991. Ben and Marney made dear friends every step of the way. Ben enjoyed woodworking, home remodeling, and singing in the Wooddale Church choir (for over 20 years) where he and Marney made many lifelong friends. His quick wit, dry sense of humor, compassion, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. To know Ben was to love him.
Ben faced many medical challenges during the last few years of his life with dignity and grace. Special thanks to the staffs at the Fairfax Community Nursing Home, Woodbury Health Care Center, and Healtheast Hospice for the loving care that was given to Ben.
A celebration of Ben's life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at Five Oaks Church, 4416 Radio Dr, Woodbury, MN 55129. Light refreshments will be served at the church immediately following the memorial service. A spring burial at Fort Ridgely, Fairfax, MN is planned.
