Bonita Lee Louise Abbett (Heinen) was born on June 21st, 1949, and passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. After a lifetime of asthma; eventually developing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease & Arrhythmia.
Bonnie was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, but made Duluth her lifelong home. Bonnie married Charles Abbett Jr on January 23,1967. They had 2 sons, Randy and Jacob, born 24 years apart. Bonnie worked as an LPN for over thirty years, beginning at St Mary hospital, then Chris Jensen Nursing Home for the remainder of her career. Prior to her mother passing away, Bonnie and her mother Muriel were very close. They had a beautiful bond and liked to go for drives for lunch or to site see and maybe do a little gambling. Bonnie doted on her 3 granddaughters, buying them cute outfits and bows for their hair. She loved to sit on her deck and watch them play in the pool. She adored babies and was a true animal lover. Later in life, Bonnie spent much of her time with her great-grandchildren. Caring for them, reading them books, watching movies. She made a positive impact on their lives, and they miss her dearly.
Bonnie was proceeded in death by her parents Herman & Dorothy Muriel Heinen, sister Elizabeth Betty Ecklund, brother Allen Heinen. In Laws, Charles & Mary Abbett.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Abbett Jr, her sons Randy (Terri) and Jacob, 3 granddaughters, Ashley, Sarah, and Heather, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Herman and Roger Heinen and families, her sister Judith Gaskill and family.
We would like to thank the nurses, doctors and hospice staff at Aspirus Saint Luke's for the wonderful care they gave Bonnie.
There will be an memorial service held at a later date and noticed will be sent.
