Repke, Jr.
Charles (CHUCK) William
Passed away on August 2, 2021 at the age of 67
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Repke, Sr. and Maud Repke; sister, Patricia Ann Grinnell; and granddaughter, Dylan June. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Gloria Bogen; sons, Charles (C. J.) Repke (Brittany) and Matthew Collins (Laurie Johnson); granddaughters, Angelus Garland, Claudia Garland and Christine Collins; sister, Cora Wheeler; brother, William Repke (Katie); brother from another mother, Dave Thune (Sue); and many other relatives and friends.
Throughout his career he was an advocate for the City of St. Paul as a City Council Aide, and also worked with the city on Development projects. He lobbied for Developers, District Energy/Evergreen Energy and causes he believed in. For over 20 years he was Executive Director of the District 2 Community Council and North East Neighborhoods Development Corporation, also becoming a real estate broker for Capitol Brokerage. There are many development projects throughout the city that he had a big hand in getting through the permitting and licensing processes. His proudest was the 20-year effort to recreate a lost shopping area in the Phalen Village neighborhood on St. Paul’s East Side. Starting with the development and opening of Cub Foods (the first nationally recognized LEED Gold grocery store), the food desert that existed in that neighborhood changed into a vibrant area with two grocery stores, a bank, a drug store, a community center, several places to eat, including a food truck area, other small businesses, and soon two medical clinics.
He was an active member of the DFL party and helped many candidates get endorsed and elected for almost 50 years, as well as chairing many political conventions. He is known by many as a great mentor and advisor. He loved his family, traveling (especially to Las Vegas and the DC-Virginia area), and he and his wife were season table owners at Canterbury Park.
