Danielle M. James

Danielle was born in February of 1948 in Wagner, SD and died peacefully on the evening of January 16th in St. Paul, MN.  

She was preceded in death by parents Marge and Glen James, brother Ben, and nephew Joshua James. She is survived by husband John Martin, brother David (Debbie), sister-in-law Faye, nephew Seth (Jill), niece Brittany Jimenez (Jose), grand niece Page, grand nephews Calvin and Tristan, and many friends. 

Danny studied at Morningside College in Sioux City Iowa developing her skills in the visual arts, and completed her degree at Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. She later returned to Metro State for the requisite training to become a licensed social worker. In her 36 year career with the Saint Paul Public Schools she initially taught in the visual arts, but worked primarily with programs created specifically for helping troubled, at risk youth to succeed. Danny will be remembered fondly by family and friends as a talented artist and an accomplished cook, known for her masterful touch with pastries, especially pies. Her warmth and wonderful laughter will be sorely missed by all.

A gathering for family and friends to honor her memory to be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in remembrance to the Animal Humane Society.
