David "Cos"
Died in his home in St. Paul on Sunday, January 24. Born in 1952 in St. Paul. Cos graduated Kellogg High School in 1971, where he excelled in music, dance, humor and making friends. He trained as a pipefitter and joined Local 455, working for Axel Newman Mechanical. He had daughter Amberly Rose in 1980. He bartended for Sweeney's Saloon in the late 1980s, then at Costello's Bar, which he also managed until it closed in early 2014.
Cos was an avid golfer, claiming he'd sooner pay greens fees than his rent, playing courses across Minnesota and Las Vegas. He pursued his passion to a job at Keller Golf Course, often joking that working there left little time for the game. He was gentle and kind, generous with compliments, smiles and his time. He was a shameless flirt and the most popular guy on the dance floor. He also loved music, especially the blues, and played a mean blues harp; although he shied from attention, he could sometimes be convinced to sit in with the band.
Cos is preceded in death by father, Ruben, and mother, Basilia. He is survived by his daughter, Amberly; grandchildren Arieona, Unique, Alonna, Jaquilyn and Alijah Sincere; brothers Ruben Jr, Mario, Richard and Roger; sisters Anita (Stanke), Lucy and Christina (Simon); and innumerable friends who considered him family.
The interment will be private. Memorial service to be held on Friday Feb. 5th between 4-8pm at Simple Traditions by Bradshaw 488 Humboldt Avenue.
