Del Laitinen, age 82 of Maple Grove went home to be with the Lord September 17, 2019 after a 14-year journey through the wilderness of Alzheimer’s disease. Del was a man who lived by his faith and showed at every turn what it meant to follow Jesus.
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” - Jeremiah 33:3
His faith in God filled his life with bounty; it was in this he found his way and his calling, preaching at the Grove Church in Maple Grove until his retirement. His joy in serving others sustained him, and he found constant blessing in forgiveness given and received. His life’s work could be summarized through the verse that guided him most profoundly. “His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you to do.” - John 2:5
Adjacent to his work for the Lord, Del was devoted to his family. He took great pride in their accomplishments and loved them boundlessly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel; parents, and parents-in-law; grandmother, Helen Clark; and sister, Jacquline Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne; children, Debra (John) Latterell and Darcy (Hans) Aurich; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, with one more arriving in January; siblings, Ronald (Dorothy) and Dudley; and a host of other loving friends and family.
Special thanks to the Willows at Arbor Lake, Grace Hospice, family and forever friends for their excellent and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Robbinsdale Women’s Center.
