Doreen Traxler

Doreen Traxler, 67, of Saint Paul, MN was called home to glory on March 7, 2024.

Doreen was born on January 30, 1957 to parents Willie Lee and Ellie Beatrice Traxler in the Rondo neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota. After Doreen graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 1975, she attended classes at Macalester College.

Doreen worked at Control Data until the the company relocated. She then worked locally at national restaurant chains Taco Bell and Arby's. Doreen excelled in her job performance and was promoted from shift leader to restaurant manager. Doreen worked for over 30 years before retiring. 

Doreen didn't have any children, she served as a surrogate mother for her many nieces and nephews. With such a large family, there are a lot of gatherings to celebrate birthdays, holidays, weddings, graduations and other events. Doreen always attended family gatherings and had a good time. Doreen spent time shopping (at Mall of America and online), cooking, cleaning, interior design and watching cable TV. Anyone who knows Doreen, remembers her fun-loving attitude. She enjoyed laughing, playing music (especially when cleaning) and a good party. She was very perceptive. Doreen always had the TEA. How did she get all her information? Travel was another story. She didn't enjoy air travel but her sister Loise convinced her to go to South Dakota. That was the first and only time she ever traveled by plane.

Doreen was a Christian woman. She faithfully attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the fellowship, music and inspirational messages. She took Metro Mobility to church each Sunday for approximately 10 years. On occasion, she would arrive 1 hour before service and was picked up 30 minutes after service ended.

Doreen is survived by longtime companion Kenneth Blakey; and siblings Carolyn Traxler, Willie Ann Page, Elaine (Andrew) Rose, Eula Jewel (John) Rundles, Loise Traxler, Phyllis Traxler and Daniel Traxler; along with a host of nieces, nephews; cousins; and friends.

Doreen was preceded in death by parents Willie Lee and Ellie Beatrice Traxler; sisters Celestine Banmore, Patricia Traxler; brother Willie Lee Traxler, Jr.; nephews Keith Johnson, Jermaine Traxler, Kendrick Traxler, Robert Molin, Jr, Adolphus Johnson and Keenan Johnson.

A funeral service will held on Thursday, March 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Lawson Ave W, Saint Paul, MN. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Elmhurst Cemetery, Saint Paul, MN.
