Edmund “Ed” VandenBosch
Age 76, of St. Paul, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at home February 13, 2021. Edmund was a lifelong Westsider. He was especially proud of having grown up on the Flats, and loved regaling friends and family with the many stories of his childhood spent in the neighborhood. He was dedicated to the well-being of the Westside and its inhabitants. From teaching weight training at Humboldt High School, to the many hours over many years with the Boys and Girls Club, he worked to empower the upcoming generations. Ed was a long-time member of St. Paul Men’s Fastpitch League, and was ultimately inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a proud union sheet metal worker. A “jack of all trades and master of none,” may have been how Ed described himself, but the jury remains out. Aside from building additions to his home, that he decorated far and wide with stained glass he made, he had the capacity to take anything in his hands and find a way to leave it more beautiful than before. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Egbert and Dominga VandenBosch; brothers, Joseph, Jeffrey Sr., and Gregory VandenBosch. He is survived by his wife, Anita VandenBosch; children, Christina (Jose) Burgos and Ed (Kayla) VandenBosch; grandchildren, Dominic Burgos and Greyson VandenBosch; siblings, Bill VandenBosch, Richard VandenBosch, Johanna Gallagher, Diana (Jose Soto) Hoban, and Thomas VandenBosch; nieces, nephews, and host of other loving family and friends. Private Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, February 25 at 11:00 AM with a livestream provided by Bradshaw.
