Elizabeth Caughey, affectionately known as Ellie, passed away unexpectedly on March 12th, 2024, in Moorhead, MN.
Born in Bemidji, MN, on June 28th 1988, to Jamie and Steve Caughey. Ellie spent her formative years in Bemidji and Menahga, MN, cherished by her childhood best friends and beloved family friend, Bob Vincent, who doted and cared for her everyday. Throughout her childhood, she participated in many school activities, running in Track & Field, playing volleyball, and studying German. She spent summers attending Rainbow Bible Ranch in South Dakota, and followed her passion for working with horses and spending time outdoors to work as a Wrangler on ranches in Colorado and Wyoming.
After she had her first child, Noah, Ellie utilized her compassionate and analytical nature to pursue studies in Nursing. Though she did not finish school at the time, she never ceased her pursuit of learning, and had recently returned to school to study Computer Programming. Aside from academics, Ellie was a photographer, creating art professionally and capturing treasured moments of her life and family. In every pursuit, Ellie had an insatiable drive to learn, work, and cultivate beauty.
All her life Ellie was a protective and committed sister with a deep connection to her family. She cultivated that connection by sharing countless memorable moments with her siblings and children, playing video games, watching scary movies, sharing her impeccable taste in music, and going on plenty of camping trips. She was an endlessly devoted mother, pouring all her love and sense of fun onto her three beautiful children.
Preceding Ellie in death were her siblings Emmy and Joshua, and dear family friend Bob Vincent.
She is survived by her three children, Noah, Elune, and Ezra; partner, Dylan; mother Jamie Caughey; father Steve (Kari) Caughey; siblings, Ethan, Joel, and Erin Caughey; sister-in-law Audrey (Joshua); and nephew Otto Caughey.
Ellie leaves behind numerous family and friends who cherished her humor, compassionate nature, and vibrant personality. Her sharp wit, profound empathy, infectious humor, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.
At this time, the family of Elizabeth will be holding a small immediate family memorial service. Details for a larger gathering of extended family and friends will be announced in the coming months.
