PEARSALL (Carnahan)
Elsie
Age 88 of St. Paul
Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother
Passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018. She is survived by her children, Linda (Geoff) King, Debby (Bill) Smith, P. Jim (Carol Marsyla) Pearsall; grandchildren, Jenny (Rob) Ellis, Jessica Jackson, Jodi King, Galen Smith, Rachel (Andy) Mass, Heather Smith, Vessa Pearsall, Katarina Pearsall; great-grandchildren, Annie, Otto, Will; sister, Eloise Wilson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Phillip James; parents, Henry Jacob and Della Vern; brother, James Henry. Raised on a cattle ranch in Elbert, Colorado, Elsie attended a one-room school there until 8th grade. In order to pursue her vocation of nursing, she finished high school in Denver, and continued her education at University of Colorado in Boulder. She met Phil there, and after they married, Elsie had to quit school, as nursing students were not permitted to be married. The next decades were spent moving around the country, following Phil's career at Univac, with Linda, Debby and Jim in tow, finally settling down in Minnesota in 1999. While raising three children, Elsie also found time to work in a number of health care settings, both in dental care and in medical insurance. She and Phil enjoyed traveling the country and living in their fifth-wheel for five years. Elsie enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, sewing, knitting and music. Even after Alzheimer's disease crept in, her love and memory of music stayed with her. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Monday, December 31 at CALVARY CHURCH, 2120 Lexington Ave N, Roseville, 55113, with visitation one hour prior and luncheon following. Memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic.
