In the early morning hours on September 30, 2024, FINN IVAR WOLDEN HENRIKSSEN passed peacefully away at the age of 87. Finn was born in Bergen, Norway on April 1, 1937. He was a soft spoken, kind, and hard-working man with a dry sense of humor, who was dearly loved by his close-knit family. After graduating with an engineering degree from Bergen tekniske skole (now Bergen ingeniørhøgskole), he worked as a planning commissioner for four counties north of Bergen, bringing new industry to the area. In 1968 Finn-with his wife and little daughter-moved to Brooklyn, New York where he attended New York University and where his younger daughter was born. After graduating from NYU with a degree in industrial engineering he worked for ITT and was assigned to various factories in the US as an efficiency expert, and as such arrived at Pearson Candy Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. Not wanting to return to New York after a year's assignment in St. Paul, he was offered a position at Old Dutch Foods, Inc. (also in St. Paul), which he accepted. He worked there as the Director of Plant Operations & Engineering for 38 years. He truly enjoyed his position at Old Dutch Foods, where he could utilize his knowledge in both engineering and management, until he retired at age 75. Finn was an avid reader, a music lover, a great dancer, an occasional hunter, enjoyed fishing, loved the outdoors, and never said "no" to ice cream. He was a long-time member of Torske Klubben, NATS (Norwegian American Technical Society), Kontakt, and Mindekirken. Finn will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 63 years, Jorunn, his two daughters Ingunn and Jeannette (Tom), grandchildren Sonja (Kurt) and Finnley, and extended family and friends in Norway and the US. He is preceded in death by his parents, Haakon and Ingrid (Wolden) Henrikssen and his brother Sverre. A memorial service will be held at the Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church (Mindekirken), 924 East 21st Street, Minneapolis, MN 55404 at 11 am on October 25, 2024. Memorials preferred to Mindekirken or personal choice.
