Age 71 of St. Paul

Gus went to that great concert in heaven on September 14, 2023. Born January 31, 1952. Preceded in death by partner and love of his life, Gabrielle Montgomery; parents, Warren and Lorraine Gustafson; sister, Marilyn Barth. Survived by sister, JoAnn Butwinick (Jim), and many nieces and nephews.

Gus was a wonderful storyteller and beloved by all who knew him. He was the kind of person you could count on to be there when times were tough or you needed anything. His great joys in life were his partner Gabby, music, boating, and spending time with family and his countless friends. He would ask a stranger “where are you from?” and would find a connection and make another friend. He brought people together. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, “I did the best I could.” His best was pretty great.  During his last days he was surrounded by friends and family, laughing together, and sharing stories.
