Morrison, Grace Marie LaFrance
Grace, 99, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, homemaker, and friend. She was born on January 26, 1918, in Chisholm, MN, to Oscar and Mathilda (Ostrom) LaFrance. She taught elementary school in Duluth and in the Medford, OR, area, where she lived from 1974 to 2001. In 2001, she moved to the Twin Cities, where she was a member of the Timber Hills (2001-2016) and Waters of Highland Park (2016-2017) communities. Grace died peacefully on September 4, 2017, ending a five-year journey with Lewy body dementia.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George (Mabel) and Edmund (Frances) LaFrance; husbands, Robert Metzger and Miles Morrison; two infant daughters; step-daughter, Milene Morrison Sower; former husband, William Tegtmeier; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son, Richard Morrison, and his wife, Claire Hoyum, of St. Paul; grandson, Samuel Morrison, and his partner, Heidi Prenevost, of Brooklyn, NY; step-daughter, Patricia Morrison Anderson, of Duluth; step-granddaughters, Kelly Thompson, of Burnsville, Trisha Kallinen, of Superior, WI, Karlene Sheesley, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Paula Roach, of Lumberton, NC; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave. S., St. Paul. A luncheon reception and visitation will follow the service at The Waters of Highland Park, 678 Snelling Ave. S.
