Guadalupe “Lupe” Gonzalez
Age 81, of St. Paul, went to his heavenly home to join his Paloma on February 26, 2021. Lupe was surrounded by his loving family. Lupe was best known for founding Minnesota’s first Spanish Radio station, Radio Rey 630 AM. He managed the company with pride for over 39 years before his retirement. Lupe was the life of the party wherever he went. His bright smile and laughter brought joy, mischief, and wry amusement to all those who encountered him. Lupe’s personality never failed to fill a room. Above all, Lupe was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He doted on his family, and loved nothing more than spending time with them – especially if it meant finding a club over the weekend to dance at. Lupe is preceded in death by the love of his life, Juanita; and 6 siblings. He is survived by his children, Martha (Jose) Wilson, Felipe Gonzalez, Linda (Arturo) Nunez, and Felicia (Gerardo) Ortega; grandchildren, Lucita Gonzalez, Adriana, Miguel and Olivia Nunez and Andres, Isabella and Rubi Ortega; great-granddaughter, Paloma Gonzalez; 4 siblings; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 10 at 11:00 AM with a livestream provided by Simple Traditions by Bradshaw. Private family interment Resurrection Cemetery.
