Harold B. Williamson

d. August 3, 2017

Harold Bennett Williamson of Saint Paul, Minnesota passed away peacefully on August 3, 2017 at age 90. Harold is survived by his four children and their families, five grandchildren, friends and neighbors. His wife of 57 years, Melba Sands Williamson, passed away in 2014. Harold was born on June 27, 1927 to Regina Katerina (Larson) Williamson and Erick Emanuel Williamson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from South High School in Minneapolis, and earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a social worker for Family Service, St. Paul, MN; Independent School District #623, Roseville, MN; and the University of Minnesota Hospital System. He was also a proud veteran, having served in the United States Navy (1945-46) and the United States Army (1952-58). Harold loved to sing; he sang tenor with the Central Chorale, the Bach Society of Minnesota, church choirs, and for many years, the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale at the Church of St. Agnes in St. Paul. He also played the organ, piano, drums, and bells. He thoroughly enjoyed swing dancing, rollerskating, canoeing around the lakes, playing chess, and listening to great orchestral music and jazz. Harold and Melba met and were married at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and raised their four children in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul. They also have five grandchildren and were actively involved in their lives, for which we are all grateful. In Harold's later years he lived at the Wellington Senior Living Center and enjoyed his friends and caregivers there very much.Visitation will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1935 St. Clair Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
