James Gary Goff, age 88, of St. Louis Park, passed away February, 4, 2023. Jim was known for his entertaining stories, political enthusiasm, and his sense of humor. He enjoyed talking to everyone he met and was an avid dog and cat lover.
Jim was born in St. Paul on November 5, 1934. He graduated from St. Thomas Academy and attended the University of Minnesota. Jim married and started a family in St. Paul, but his job as a campaign organizer took him all over the country, Canada and Europe. He lived in Ohio, South Carolina, Rhode Island, and New Mexico, but eventually settled back in Minnesota. His campaigns included Hubert Humphrey, Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Arnie Carlson, and Mee Moua, the first Hmong American to serve in the Minnesota Legislature. He also spent several months in Ukraine giving campaign workshops.
Jim is survived by children, Sara (Branko) Stojkovic, Jessica (Jon) Grunklee, Peter (Athena) Goff, sister Mary Goff, 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son David Goff, parents Sydney and Alice (Supornick) Goff, brothers Michael and Richard Goff.
The family will have a private service. Memorials are preferred to the Red Cross's Ukraine Crisis.
