James Joseph McKnight
Age 71 Died December 16, 2016
James Joseph McKnight spent much of his life defying death until he slipped away peacefully on Friday following a battle with cancer. From avoiding close calls in the Vietnam War and mishaps during his troublemaking days on the west side, to rowdy antics driving cab for 30 years, Jim proved consistently that he was not a man who gave up easily. Jim was born October 11, 1945, in St. Paul. After enlisting in the Marine Corps at age 17, Jim's bravery in Vietnam earned him a Purple Heart. Those who knew Jim adored him for his larger-than-life capacity to love. Jim perfected the art of being candid yet kind. Nobody ever had to question his honesty or authenticity. He is survived by his dear wife, Linda; brother, Jack; sister, Barbara, his five sons Jimmy, Tim, Cliff, Titus, and Link and 11 grandchildren. A celebration of Jim's life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 5-8PM, with service at 6PM, at SIMPLE TRADITIONS by BRADSHAW, 488 Humboldt Ave., St. Paul. Family asks those attending to dress informally-Jim wouldn't want everyone dressing in suits of his accord.
