James O'Leary

James David O'Leary, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 80.

Born on February 12, 1944, in Charlotte, North Carolina, James was the beloved son of Henry Steveson and Frances O'Leary.

James spent his early years in Charlotte before moving to Chicago, Illinois, where he met the love of his life, Cora O'Leary. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together they built a beautiful family. James was a proud father to seven children: Franchot O'Leary, Marvin O'Leary, Latres Randal, Ginger Watson, Julie Watson, and his two late sons, Darryl O'Leary and Byron O'Leary. He was also a cherished grandfather to several grandchildren and a beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.

A hardworking and dedicated man, James worked as a bus driver for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), serving his community with pride and diligence until his retirement. Following his retirement, he and Cora relocated to Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he spent the remainder of his life surrounded by family and friends.

James will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for his family, and his warm, generous spirit. He was a guiding light to those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to have him in their lives. May he rest in eternal peace.

Services for James will be held at 11AM on Thursday, January 2, at Simple Traditions by Bradshaw (671 Snelling Ave. S. St. Paul). Family and friends may visit one hour prior. Burial at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul.
