Janel Aikens, originally from Ogden, Utah, died peacefully in West St Paul, Minnesota, on May 20th 2021. Born in 1968, she spent most of her life in her adoptive state of Minnesota. She is survived in death by Karn (Fraze) Aikens, her wife and partner of 15 years, dogs Riley & Wrigley-Shea, cats Ernie & King Louis XII along with a host of friends and family.
Whether it was traveling, playing sports, gardening, cooking, building, shopping, or discovering the newest brewpub, Janel lived life to the fullest, loving and laughing through it all. She was a “bucket-list” girl and always had a new adventure on the horizon.
Janel was a generous soul, and always put the needs of others above her own. From mentoring interns through Genesys Works, to participating in drug trials for future cancer treatments, or simply being there for a friend in need, she was laser-focused on creating better futures for those who came after her.
While cancer may have taken her physically, her spirit remains with all of those who knew and loved her. We will miss her deeply but are comforted in knowing that her pain and suffering have ended.
A celebration of Janel's life will be Friday, May 28th at 2:00 PM at SIMPLE TRADITIONS by BRADSHAW (488 Humboldt Ave., St. Paul); visitation from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. In accordance with local regulations, masks are required indoors and attendance in person is limited. The service will be livestreamed by clicking on the box below.
