Judith Caron

Judith (Judy Caron, 86 of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away peacefully after a struggle with dementia, on July 8, 2024. Judy was born on February 24, 1938, to Leonard and Thurley Arneson in Worthington, MN. After graduating from Marshall High School, Judy moved to the cities to attend Flight Attendant/Modeling School. After spending some time in Minneapolis, she returned to Marshall where she met LeRoy (Pete) Caron and they wed in 1960.

Pete's career kept them moving for the first several years of their marriage, eventually landing in Detroit Lakes, MN in 1967. Judy's outgoing personality led her to spend time as the Welcome Wagon, helping new members in the community, worked at a credit bureau, admitting in the ER at St Mary's hospital and later as a real estate agent. With Pete being on the road most weeks, her favorite role was mom and chauffeur. Judy was also active in Catholic Daughters, Boy Scouts and Campfire Girl leader for many years. Pete and Judy served with the Peace Corps in Honduras 1988-1989. After retiring in 1988, Judy and Pete spent their winter in Las Vegas working security at conventions. They eventually sold the farm just north of DL and bought a lake home on Devils Lake, outside of Perham where they loved entertaining family and friends. Eventually, Mesa, Arizona became their winter home until Pete's passing in 2014. Judy moved back to DL for 7 years with her final residence being The Sanctuary at West St. Paul.

Judy is preceded in death by her father; mother; Sister, Audrey (Maquire-Longtin); Husband LeRoy (Pete) Caron; and son, Jeff Caron.

Judy is survived by her children, Sally (Sean) Hanlon, Cimberly (Randy) Melbye, Leonard (Joanne) Caron, Leslie (Tom) Reich; and Daughter in Law, Candy (Jeff) Caron; sisters Karen Baack Welding, Bonnie (Jack) Ruegemer; and brother Ed (Kelly) Dehning; her grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Jessica, Janet (Linsdey), Tony, Jenna (Nicholas), Trent (Tricia), Tyler, Hannah and Megan; in addition, she was great grandmother to Alex, Eli, Isaac, Axel, Reznor, Dhara and Harvey; and great great grandchild, Chenoa.

We want to thank the staff at The Sanctuary, along with Hospice of the Midwest, for taking such good care of our Mom and all the residents of memory care.

Services will on September 14, 1 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1043 Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. A gathering will be held after the service in the church hall.
