Judith Stone

Judith (Judy) Stone, 74, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, June 16, 2024 surrounded by family.

Judy was born in 1949 to Merton and Lenore Denelsbeck of Canby, Minnesota. She attended college at the University of Minnesota where she met her future husband Richard (Dick) Stone at student orientation. After a short courtship and a convincing proposal, they were married in 1969 and headed north to Grand Marais, Minnesota where they raised their family. Judy was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and was passionate about her job as a librarian in Grand Marais where she loved participating in children's programming such as the summer reading program.

The next phase of life found Judy and Dick moving to Roseville to be closer to family. Judy was able to continue her calling as a librarian at Luther Seminary which fit with her love of helping others and her strong Christian faith. Over the next twenty years, she was able to spend time with family, get to know her granddaughters who she loved dearly, and became an active member of Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, Minnesota.

Judy was a gentle loving soul, most known for her kindness to others, positive attitude in the face of extreme challenge, and joy in the little things. She enjoyed her flower gardens, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and always enjoyed being with friends and extended family. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and twin sons lost at birth. She is survived by husband Dick of 54 years, daughters Abbie and Alison (Tony), three granddaughters Fiona, Evelyn, and Gianna, brothers Rick (Jackie) and Randy (Cheryl), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Judy was a light in her community and a blessing to those who knew her as wife, sister, mother, grandmother, family, and friend. A celebration of life will take place Friday, July 12, 2024 at Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, Minnesota: visitation 10:00 -11:00; service 11:00; luncheon to follow.
