Kathleen Margaret Kauppi née Hutz, age 80, of Forest Lake formally of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who demonstrated love and generosity every day of her life.
Kathleen was born on September 9, 1944 to Leonard and Ann Hutz. She attended primary school at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in West St. Paul. Then she went on to attend high school at St. Bernard’s Catholic School in St. Paul. Kathleen was especially close with her sister Ann Marie.
Kathleen was overjoyed when she had her only son, Joseph. She doted on Joseph, loved him deeply and supported him in all his efforts. In her professional life, Kathleen dedicated 40 years to her career as a Dental Assistant. Her loyalty to the families she worked with was unmatched.
Kathleen met and married her husband, David. They loved to travel together, from Mexico to Aruba. She loved to dance and was a fabulous cook. Kathleen enjoyed classical music and opera, and her recipe for sweet potatoes was a signature that was a hit at every family gathering.
Kathleen will be remembered for her wit, loyalty, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Leonard and Ann; and sister, Ann Marie.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Becky); granddaughter, Sydney; nieces, cousins, family and friends.
A heartfelt thank you to Amira Choice Memory Care Unit and Ecumen Hospice in Forest Lake for their incredible care and compassion.
Funeral service held at 10AM, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Simple Traditions by Bradshaw (488 Humboldt Ave.). Visitation one hour prior. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
