Leonard was born to Alfred and Ethel Pearson in Red Oak, Iowa. He attended country school near Red Oak and later near Watertown, MN where the family moved. When they moved to Minneapolis he attended South High and graduated in Jan. 1945. The next day he was inducted in the US Army and was trained in the Horse Cavalry. He served as an MP until Nov. 1946. On Aug. 30, 1947 Len married Arbutus Francis. They were married for over 60 years until Arby's death in 2008. They lived in Minneapolis where Len worked various jobs until he settled in long term at Despatch Industries. He traveled around in his job setting up industrial ovens in most of the states, Puerto Rico and even China. The couple enjoyed having fun with their three boys- Kent, Craig, and Brian. Len went canoeing, camping, skiing with the family and participated in all their YMCA, Boy Scouts and church and youth activities. In later years they were able to travel to Scandinavia to visit Swedish relatives. Leonard was very involved with Riverside Free Church and later with Oxboro Free Church. Leonard was a committed Christian and was looking forward to meeting the Lord.

He is survived by brothers Leland (Doris), Richard; sister Lenora; his sons Kent (Dawn), Craig (Tricia), and Brian (Deb); grandsons Luke (Vi), Ben (Sarah); granddaughter Carrie (Adam) Woerdeman; great-grandchildren Hailey, Nathan, Jax and Mara; and several nieces and nephews.
