Marjorie Stephan

Marjorie Gail Stephan, 87, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Saint Therese Senior Care in Woodbury, MN, surrounded by the love of her family, after a life well-lived. Her peaceful passing is a testament to the love and care she received, bringing comfort to those who knew and loved her.

Margie was born August 5, 1936, to Reinhart and Florence Schwanke near Rochester, MN. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1954. She met the love of her life, Melvin Stephan, at a local dance, and they married on December 14, 1957. They lived in Country Club Manor for 60 years and enjoyed many good times with wonderful neighbors. She started working as a technician in Surgical Pathology at Mayo, where she worked for 38 years until the age of 74. Margie loved dogs and horses, and her home was filled with the joy of reading, having finished thousands of books over her lifetime. She was a talented artist, loved the music of Elvis, Barbra Streisand, and Neal Diamond, played a competitive game of golf and bowling, and was a passionate supporter of the MN Gophers, Twins, and Vikings.

Margie is survived by one daughter, Gale (Don) Heikes; two sons, Troy (Ava) Joubert and Bruce (Corey) Stephan; and three grandchildren, Ella, Claire, and Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy (Victor) Kretzmann of Valparaiso, IN., and her loving husband, Mel.

A private burial will follow at the Moravian Hebron Cemetery in Altura, MN.
