Mark Edward Bahnsen

Mark Edward Bahnsen, 67, of Burnsville, formerly of Savage, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023.

Mark, the eldest of six children was born on August 30, 1956 to Darrell and Elizabeth “Bette” Bahnsen in Mason City, Iowa.  He grew up in Savage and graduated from Burnsville High School. Mark worked at Cub Foods where he met and befriended many until his retirement.

On August 18, 1979, Mark married the love of his life Penny Scholz. Mark was a kind and gentle man who loved his wife, his family and his beloved pet pugs.

Anything sports related was Mark’s thing.  He was an avid Minnesota sports team fan; especially the Twins.  If there was a game on Mark was either watching it or listening to it.  He enjoyed playing golf, softball, hockey, basketball, baseball, bowling, swimming in his pool, going to the casino and just being with people.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Elizabeth Bahnsen, sister-in-law Valerie Bahnsen, brother-in-law Timothy Speltz.

Forever loved by his wife Penny, brother John Bahnsen, sisters Mary (Steven) Olson, Jane (Todd) Johnson, Lisa (David) Shadick, Angela Speltz; many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be will be held on Saturday, October 21 at the Savage American Legion from 6:00pm- 9:00pm. Casual attire required.
