Passed away February 5, 2024 at her residence at the Waters of Highland Park.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill); parents, Fred and Martha Remmele; daughter, Ellen Mary; granddaughter, Lindsay Norton; and great-granddaughter, Isa Margot Emrich.
Survived by daughters, Shannon (Thayne) Emrich, Elizabeth (Paul Erickson), Deborah (Jim Gilbert), and Mary (Wim Crabbe); eleven grandchildren and their spouses; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary; sister-in-law, Betsy; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Martha was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She grew up on St. Paul's west side, attended St. Joseph's Academy and received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota. Martha and Bill spent their first years of marriage in St. Paul and eventually moved to Roseville, where they raised their five daughters. Avid travelers, they visited many places throughout the country and around the world, eventually settling on the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Big Island of Hawaii, where they entertained friends and family over the years. Martha was a devout Catholic, committed to her faith, a love of God, always generous, kind, and thoughtful. Her legacy and a consolation to those that were a part of her life is the example by which she lived her life, by following the Golden Rule.
We'd like to extend a very special thanks to her care team.
