Bausman-Watkins, Mary Frederika (Mary-Fred)

Age 59, of St. Paul, passed away on May 8, 2022, after living bravely and authentically through seven years of cancer.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn; and sister, Jane.

She is survived by her loving husband, Peter; children, Andrew, Christopher, and Paul; and brothers, Charlie and John.

Mary-Fred loved her life: her family, Central High School students and colleagues, church community, pilgrimages, life-long friendships, creating Ukrainian Easter eggs and random acts of beauty.  Endlessly curious, she loved traveling, the arts, and, as with many life-long learners, was rarely without a book arms distance.

An accomplished German language teacher and educational leader, she was a passionate voice for justice and anti-racism work in her community and a founding co-director of the Twin Cities German Immersion School.

A memorial service for Mary-Fred will be held at 3PM, on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church (901 Portland Ave., St. Paul). Social hour to follow.
