Michael John Ek, 60, passed away suddenly & unexpectedly from a fall at his home in Burnsville, MN on Tuesday Dec. 12, 2017.
Mike was born November 12, 1957 in Eau Claire, WI to Bill & Karen Ek. He spent his early childhood in Shell Lake, WI. The family moved to Oconto, WI in 1968.

Mike graduated from high school in Oconto and from UW-Stout with a degree in Industrial Design. Mike was a designer of trade show displays. He was a gifted artist.
Mike married Joan Pecor on July 26, 1980. To this union a daughter, Alyssa Christine was born February 1, 1991. His precious daughter was the love of his life!!

Mike loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, skiing or just sitting by the campfire. His winter weekends were spent volunteering for the Ski Patrol at Granite Peak for 16 for years. He spent many hours building and repairing at the family cabin during the summer.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Alyssa of Hamilton, NJ; his mother, Karen Ek, of Shell Lake; his former wife Joan Ek, of Appleton; four brothers, Jeff (Kathy) of Oconomowoc; Paul (fiancAC.e Connie) of Milwaukee; Steve of West Allis; Chip (Sandi) of Racine; a very special uncle, Charlie (Ruth) Peterson of Eau Claire; Aunts Kappy Bredemus of Waunakee and Mary Jacobs of Gold Canyon, AZ. Also many nephews, nieces and friends. Family and friends were especially important to him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, Bill, uncle Jim Peterson, cousin Matthew Peterson.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the family cabin in Shell Lake next summer. That was his "happy place"!
