Pamela Pettigrew Newsome
Age 64 of St. Paul, passed away in hospice care December 27, 2017, after 11 years living with ovarian cancer. She is survived by parents, Charles and Joan Pettigrew of Fort Myers, FL; loving husband of 30 years, Jim; son, John (Erin); grandson, Blake; sister, Laurie; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Pam worked as a research librarian for the New York Public Library, then as a long-standing librarian for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and later there as a Management Analyst, ending her career as the Minnesota Department of Transportation Records Manager. Graduate of Joliet East High School in Illinois, BA in Theater from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, and MLIS in Library Science from Queens College, in Queens, NY. Pam enjoyed nature and gardening, hiking, reading and writing, recording for the blind, and was an avid drummer, playing with the musical group Drumheart. Pam loved being with family and friends. She was a strong and caring person, and lived bravely with cancer for many years. Memorial Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 4th at Macalester Plymouth United Church, 1658 Lincoln Ave, St. Paul, 55105. In lieu of flowers, Pam asked that donations be given to the food shelf of your choice "to help feed the hungry children."
