Petra Leslie (Hallfin) Phillips, 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21 at United Hospital after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her partner, Terry Konz; her mother and stepfather, Karen and Terry Kormann; her father and stepmother, Larry and Elaine Hallfin; her sisters, Nicole Olila (Jill) and Anneli (Olila) Gosman (Marcel); her step-sisters, Jill Radabaugh and Heidi Brooks; her much-loved nieces and nephews, Moira, Maisie, Mick, and Pete Kuehn; many cherished friends; and her loyal cat companions, Serena and Henry. She was preceded in death by her step-brother, Dominic Kormann.
Everyone who has heard of Petra's passing has shared the same feeling - she was a truly beautiful, loving person. Her distinctive wit and ability to bring humor to even the hardest situations were always appreciated. Her absence has created a profound emptiness, as though a sun has gone down.
Petra's lifelong artistic endeavors included beadwork, sewing, curating and collecting vintage clothing, antiques, and artwork. She had a great respect and love for music, with an eclectic taste ranging from 60s psychedelic rock to 70s R&B and funk, and 80s punk. She was a prolific creative spirit whose passions inspired many.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of United Hospital and Calvary Care for their exceptional care of Petra. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feline Rescue, Inc. in honor of Petra's love of cats.
