Pedersen, Richard A., age 77, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church West Campus, 7150 Rolling Acres Road in Victoria, MN. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Rick was born in St. Paul, but raised in California including Culver City and Garberville. Following his graduation from South Fork High School ('65) in Miranda, California, Rick served in the United States Navy for three years and was stationed on an aircraft carrier as an electrician.
Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Navy, Rick moved to Minnesota where he earned a Biomedical Equipment Technology degree from Hennepin Technical College and met his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Tiedman. Rick and Sue bought their first home in New Hope before settling in Plymouth where they raised their two daughters, Molly and Abby.
Rick enjoyed a successful 35-year career in the medical equipment sales and service industry, with stops at Ohio Medical/Ohmeda, Keomed Companies, and Penlon America. He excelled in the field and loved collaborating with doctors and nurses, training them on the latest anesthesia and respiratory equipment.
In his free time, Rick was an avid sports fan and a passionate supporter and advocate for girls and women's basketball. He was also a regular attendee at his grandchildren's youth sporting events, attending hundreds of baseball, softball, football, and basketball games. More than anything, Rick loved to fish, especially at his family's home away from home - Cass Lake. He spent countless hours on the lake with his wife, his father-in-law Les, his daughters, his two sons-in-law, his three grandchildren, and his many friends at Birch Villa Resort.
Rick is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters Molly (Matt) Thomas of Chanhassen, MN and Abby (Dan) LeFevre of Chanhassen, MN; grandchildren Luke, Laney and Vince; brother Tom Pedersen of Silver Spring, Maryland; sister Karen (David) DeYoung of Applegate, Oregon; brother Jeff (Kathy) Pedersen of Clarksville, Tennessee; and numerous other extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter N. Pedersen and Vivian I. Dettman Pedersen; step-mother Catherine Pedersen; and brother Gary Pedersen.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Methodist Hospital, particularly in the Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family and a donation will be made to a fishing and lake conservation nonprofit in Rick's honor.
