Richard "Dick" B. Satorius, who lived in Bloomington-Normal for over 70 years, passed away on June 15, 2017 at the age of 97 in St. Paul, MN. He and his wife, Erma A. Satorius, would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this November.
He attended Illinois State Normal University and Illinois Wesleyan University. He was a WW2 veteran of the US Army Air Corp. where he became the head of the gunnery school for bomber turret guns. After the war, he bought and operated the Davidson Electric electrical contracting business for 36 years. Dick was a board member of the First Christian Church in Bloomington.
Dick was an avid bridge player all his adult life. Always open and friendly, he made many life-long friends whom he treasured including those of his coffee group of 50+ years. He and his wife traveled to many countries. He was quick to find humor in everyday living and was generous to friends and strangers in need. He was a frequent anonymous donor. His childhood on the farm never left him and his habits of early-to-bed and early-to-rise, practicality and always being productive, served him well all his life.
Dick was a loving husband and a kind and generous father. He will be missed by those who survive him including his wife, Erma, children, Steve (Peggy Diaz), Dan (Tonda Mattie) and Marsha Satorius-Fox (Mike Fox), grandchildren, Ashley Satorius, Dr. Annalise Satorius, Gretl Satorius, Taylor Satorius and Perry Satorius.
Instead of a funeral, a memorial service in Bloomington, IL is planned for this Fall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army, First Christian Church of Bloomington, or a charity of the donor's choice.
