Russell Howard Colber

June 21, 1938 — November 14, 2023

Russell Howard Colber, my dad, age 85, of Milwaukee WI passed away in his home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in St Paul MN. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Marge, Sister Carole, and youngest brother Jimmy. Survived in life by his sons Newell, Geoffery, Charles, and Nelson Colber as well as his former wife Bonita, and several grandchildren. Russell graduated from Custer High School, University of Minnesota BA, and Syracuse University with a Master's Degree in the newly developed fields of television and radio. Over his long, interesting, and rewarding life, he lived in WI, NY, and MN.

Our dad enjoyed several adventures throughout England, Europe, Africa, and South America. As a life-long student of history, he was fascinated by ancient cultures particularly those of the Egyptian's and Mayan's. His interest in history and arts lead him to play a role in the beginning founding of the MN Renaissance Festival, appearing in character astride a horse for a 1971 poster. He was a lifelong car enthusiast joining the Wisconsin Jaguar club in the early 1970s where he was a member for 50 years. Participating in meetings and shows.

He was especially fond Jazz. Early in life, he would venture throughout Milwaukee to find the best jazz music.. As a hobby novelist, he used his rich experiences to pen several as-of-yet unpublished books. Our dad knew how to get people's attention, and over his long career in advertising he worked for MIA, Dayton's department store, owning his own advertising company, Medtronic, and West Publishing.

He will be sorrily missed by all who knew him, and especially his family who will remember his adventurous spirit fondly.
