Sandra Vatassery

A lifelong Minnesotan, peacefully passed away in her home after a courageous journey with cancer on Saturday, August 26th at age 71.

Born in Minneapolis, Sandra was an incredibly caring person who showed thoughtfulness and love in both her career and personal life. She spent most of her professional career as a social worker helping people of varying needs. It is through this passion of hers she met her most cherished Bon Vivants.

Sandra enjoyed playing cards, writing, attending various charity groups like Mano a Mano and spending quality time with friends and family - especially her two grandchildren ages 2 and 19 months. Sandra loved to travel both in the US and abroad. Her most cherished travel was with her late husband Govind Vatassery to India, Italy and Mexico.

Sandra is survived by her brother, Eugene; sister, Oriet; sons, Rajan (Sunayana) and Jayan (Anu); and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, Govind; father, Earle; mother, Irene; and brother, Lloyd.

A wake will be held Tuesday, August 29 from 4-7pm at UNITY CHURCH-UNITARIAN, 733 Portland Ave, St. Paul, MN. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 4pm with a visitation at 3pm, also at Unity Church-Unitarian.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Unity Unitarian Church or Mano a Mano.
