Susan Plahn

d. August 13, 2016

Plahn, Susan Adele

formerly of Highland Park, St. Paul, died peacefully at home in Atwater, CA on August 13, following a long battle with leukemia and pulmonary disease, age 73, in Atwater, CA. Predeceased by parents, Howard and Gail Plahn (Hutchinson). She is survived by long-time partner, George Lingle; brother, Paul Plahn, and his three children and two grandchildren: Stephanie Reding (Justin), Emily Plahn, Derek Plahn, and Jordan and Nicholas Reding. She was shortly survived by her now adult foster child, Kanaa, who was terminally ill. Following her birth in Houston, TX, Susan was raised in St. Paul where she graduated from Central High School and went on to study sculpture, fine arts, and business at the University of MN, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and California State University, Stanislaus. Susan applied her creative gifts, aesthetics, and wit to her fine arts, art education, advertising, and commercial art. She was an avid reader and composer of essays and writings which revealed a great sense of humor, insight, compassion and intellect. Her generosity was felt by those who knew her from all walks of life, young and old. Susan and George shared a love of exploring and travel together, and she greatly enjoyed spending time in the beautifully landscaped yard which she designed and George created and into which her sculptures were incorporated. She was a beloved sister, partner, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.
