Theresa Mae King

Our beloved spiritual teacher, Ma Devi (Theresa King), left her body on August 4, 2023. She was a light to students across the U.S. and around the world. She was a lifelong student of spirituality and a vowed religious for 10 years, studying Christian theology across multiple countries. She explored Zen, Hinduism, Yoga, Shintoism, and other global spiritual traditions. Chosen as personal assistant to Himalayan Yogi, Sri Swami Rama, she worked with him for 24 years worldwide, training in yoga and spirituality.
Devi co-founded Yes International Publishers in 1986 and produced over 30 titles. She was co-founder of The Institute of the Himalayan Tradition in St. Paul. She organized international spiritual conferences, co-produced Wellness 2000, and directed spiritual programs at universities. An accomplished author and poet, she received awards for her work. Ma Devi's guidance along the spiritual journey impacted many people around the world. Her absence is deeply felt, a significant loss for all of her students, colleagues, and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held 1-5 pm on Sept. 9, at the Carondelet Center, room 101, 1890 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.
