Virginia Edgerton

d. August 14, 2017

Edgerton, Virginia "Ginny" Of Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, formerly Mendota Heights, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday August 14th, 2017. Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John B. Edgerton Jr.; father, Arthur Gross; mother, Helen Gross; and brother, Bill Gross. Survived by her three children, Katherine (Robert) Yaeger, John (Heidi), Scott (Mary Beth); 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Marshall High School. She then attended the University of Minnesota. She left school to marry the man of her dreams, John B. Edgerton Jr. Ginny, or "GG" as she was called by her grandkids and friends, lived life with many passions. She always believed in bettering herself through education. She was a constant reader, and furthered her education by taking classes and going on Elderhostel trips with Dad. She loved arts and crafts. She was a gifted quilter and needlepoint person, knit our mittens and scarves when we were younger and loved working with clay, making: pots, luminaries, and many, many sculptures. She loved the outdoors, gardening, birds, and was an avid golfer. In the winters she skipped a women's team at the St Paul Curling Club and mixed curled with Dad. In 1968, Mom and Dad, with friends Ken and Jen Koppy, won the Minnesota State Mixed Curling Championship. Mom also donated her time, as a den mother, a volunteer at church, and she managed and purchased inventory at the children's gift shop in United Hospital. Mom is now with the Lord and her beloved Jack, and free from the grip of Alzheimer's. We will miss her forever, and cherish the fond memories of her as: GG, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. We also want to extend a warm heartfelt thanks to the Heartland Hospice caregivers and to the many caregivers at Boutwells Landing. There will be a memorial service and celebration of her life on Thursday August 31st, 2017 at 10:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 60 Kent Street, St. Paul, MN 55102. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Alzheimer's Association.
