Werner, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Father's Day, June 16, 2019. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years Marlene; children Mark (Camille), Brett, Kay (Terry) Schommer, Lisa; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends.
Werner served in the Navy for 4 years after studying at Dunwoody. He loved all the travels around the world on the Fred T. Berry ship. He was an Auto Parts man all his life. He knew all the different parts and their functions and where they belonged. He was a Gardener, outgoing and happy - gardening with perennials was his passion. He shared hundreds of plants and flowers with friends, neighbors, and anyone who wanted them. In the winter he would be out shoveling too much snow, but he preferred it to the snow blower. He had endured many extreme health problems such as a broken neck, back surgeries, and numerous others, but he never let them get him down. He loved his McDonalds coffee every morning in his later years, and enjoyed the daily get together with older men at McDonalds and various other places.
He loved his German heritage and was very proud of it: he attended many German groups and gatherings in later years. He never got the southwestern Minnesota out of his blood, even though he and Marlene lived in the Twin Cities most of their lives. Werner was very passionate about prophecy and end times, and certainly believed what Scripture said about it. He was very outgoing and spent half the time on the go. He worked with the Evangelism Team at a church that he attended and was an elder there for a number of years. He spent hours each day reading prophecy books and the Bible; Werner was eager to learn, especially in his old age.
Memorials preferred to family or the Lamb and Lion Ministry, and the D.O.O.R. Intk (Deaf Ministry) for the Sorenson Family.
