"Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary,, they will walk and not be faint." Isa. 40:31

William Eugene "Bill" Hixson of Minneapolis/St Paul passed away on May 30,2023 at
Minnesota Veterans Home from complications with pneumonia. He peacefully passed away
at 7:38 AM with his oldest daughter Elaine in attendance.

William was born on December 5, 1939 in Butte, Montana, and was persistent in pursuing
goals throughout his life. After leaving high school to join the Navy, he earned his GED and
eventually graduated with honors from New Hampshire College with a BA in business. He
dedicated 30 years of his life to serving in the USN, retiring as a Senior Chief.

In his spare time, William enjoyed building things with wood, geocaching and roasting his
own coffee beans. William was known and loved by many for his easygoing nature and good
sense of humor. He was an avid fan of Saturday morning cartoons and rom coms, and
enjoyed pastimes such as geocaching, fishing, camping, grilling, and taking road trips. He
also made a success of owning a yogurt and coffee shop, as well as selling real estate in
Maine. His friends and family enjoyed his creativity in the kitchen. Memorable are making
animal pancakes together when his girls were young.

William is survived by his spouse Alice Hixson; his daughter Elaine Harries and her spouse
Vaughan Harries; his daughter Joanna Brailer and her spouse Chris Brailer; and numerous
beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents,
Wes and Nellie Hixson; his sisters, Bessie and Bonnie; and his brother, Bryce. A memorial
service will be held for William on Friday, July 21st at 10am at Fort Snelling National
Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring William's
memory and celebrating his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Minnesota
Veterans Home in his honor at the link provided: Minnesota Veterans Home Donation Page

Take comfort in knowing that Bill is now at peace. If you see a rainbow or an eagle, he is
looking down and smiling. Rest In Love.
