Yeyco Arturo Avila was born on June 7, 1972 in New York, New York to Rodrigo Avila Chang and Rebeca Avila Catuy and passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 2023 after a lifelong battle with Sickle Cell Anemia. He was 50 years old.
Yeyco moved to Minnesota at age 13 and graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul in 1991. He went on to study at Normandale Community College. Yeyco was working at H.B Fuller in Fridley at the time of his passing. Yeyco was a proud Panamanian man that loved spending his free time with his young daughter, Arianna, watching the Minnesota Vikings, all things New York, laughing with his friends, bumpin' loud music in his car, and worshiping at the Woodbury Church of Christ. Yeyco's big Gemini energy, incredible laugh, bright smile and overall kindness will be deeply missed.
Yeyco leaves behind his parents, Rodrigo & Rebeca Avila of Panama, his brother Rodrigo Avila (Zaneta) of Minnesota, his children, Yeyco Jr. and Antonio Avila of Virginia and Arianna Avila of Minnesota, his nephew Carlos Avila (Amber) of Texas, nieces; Jess Avila (Phil) of Colorado, Talia Avila of Texas, Isabella Avila of Georgia, Deja Avila of Iowa and so many cousins, aunts, uncles and relatives here in the states and in Panama.
Yeyco joins his big brother, Carlos Ernesto Avila, paternal grandparents; Pascual Avila and Anastacia Avila Chang, maternal grandparents; Carlos Catuy and Cecilia Catuy Chiari and other extended family members in Heaven.
A visitation will take place Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Woodbury Church of Christ, 4920 Woodbury Dr, Woodbury, MN 55129, followed by a celebration of Yeyco's life beginning at 11:00 A.M..
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Minnesota in Yeyco's name. Sickle Cell Anemia is a painful, red blood cell disorder in which there currently is no cure. Individuals that have this disease spend extended stays in the hospital getting blood transfusions, oxygen, pain management and so much more throughout their entire lives.
