Andrew Smith, age 35, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021. Andrew, son of Mark and Jenifer Smith, was born August 21, 1985 in Minneapolis, MN.
Andrew enjoyed participating in various sports and was actively involved in a church youth group throughout his childhood. He graduated from Blaine High School in 2003. At age 19, he joined the US Marine Corps where he earned a Sergeant ranking. Andrew was stationed in Okinawa and served one tour in Iraq during his four years of active duty. Following his years in the military, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland. He moved to Colorado after residing in Florida for several years.
Andrew enjoyed adventurous activities including biking, running, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and rock climbing in the mountains. He savored the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and often shared pictures of his adventures. Andrew always had a big heart and desire to help others. His fun, quirky personality never went unnoticed!
Family has always been a priority for Andrew. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Jenifer; sister Ariana; brother Gabriel; nephew Aden; grandfather, Edmond “Ed” Smith, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from coast to coast. Andrew is welcomed into Heaven by his grandmother, Teresa Smith; grandfather, Robert “Bob”; and grandmother, Dorothy Schumacher.
Andrew’s visitation will be Thursday, May 20th from 9:30 - 11:30 at SIMPLE TRADITIONS by BRADSHAW (671 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul). Due to MN COVID-19 regulations, masks are required along with a limited number of occupants at a time in the funeral home. Guests must enter through the front door and exit through the side door. A brief service will immediately follow visitation at 11:30 AM. Interment and Military Honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Andrew’s gravesite can be visited after 4:30pm. Live streaming of the service and military funeral honors will be available. Memorials preferred to Operation TBI Freedom , your local VA Health Care facility or VFW, or Tier One Tranquility Base .
