Age 75, on March 23, 2023.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Mitchell and leaves behind her four younger, heartbroken sisters: Jo (Steve Schmidt), Jean, Joni (Christopher Thorpe), and Michelle (Roger Steele). In addition she also leaves behind her nephews and nieces who loved her deeply: Alex Schmidt, Nick Strachota (Dr. Emily Rosenberg), Laura Strachota, Max Thorpe (Dr. Kanchan Hulasare), Mason Thorpe, and Laura and Lilly Steele.

Jan was always ahead of her time; fashionable, independent, and athletic. Most of all she enjoyed family celebrations where she would provide elaborate decorations, wonderful food and the perfect gift. Her nephews and nieces have many fun and happy memories of their Aunt Jan, especially her wonderful Christmas cookies.

Jan loved her garden which always attracted butterflies, birds, and numerous tree frogs, all intently watched by her cats. Jan had the youngest heart of us all.

A private, family celebration of her life will be held May 27, 2023 at SIMPLE TRADITIONS by BRADSHAW, St. Paul. We all support her journey with our love and appreciation for her presence in our lives here on earth.
